I’ve crossed the finish line for Phase 1, which means that I’m a third of the way through! Honestly, it hasn’t been that difficult, probably because I was already a healthy eater to begin with. I found the meals fairly delicious (minus the tempeh) and I’ve learned a few new recipes that I’d like to continue making. Yet, the hours of cooking has been a big pain in the butt, and my social life has been quite pathetic.

I’m starting to miss dining out and exploring new restaurants which, to me, is not so much because of the food but rather the experience of being at a restaurant and the company that I’m with. For instance, I was out shopping today and was so tempted to make a pit stop at a bar, grab a beer and a small bite to eat. That’s a sort of activity that is so engrained in my lifestyle that it was a tease to not be able to, and it eventually cut my shopping time short (which could have been a good thing).

I got all my groceries for Week 2! My cart looked so…green! I looked like such a healthy person and one that knew how to cook! I was proud to lay out all my items on the belt conveyor. I felt like such an adult who no longer laid out colorful boxes of packaged foods that have pictures of delicious foods which typically have no resemblance once heated. Sadly cooking is a skill that not many of us have, and I see it as a necessity that just has to be learned. But this can ramble on as another entry.

While my mind is saying “healthy”, my eyes and boy are saying “cravings!” and I seem to have noticed every pile of, what Beachboy considers “junk food”, in the corner of my eye. Chocolate, chips, trail mix… and even the more unattractive types of food looked amazing. My body is just craving for something that tastes different from veggies and bland foods.

Next week it’s just going to get harder – I’m cutting out all meats, diary and bread. It’ll be only grains, veggies, and fruits – hopefully I won’t be cranky and go through that emotional rollercoaster.

Will keep you updated!
