My Neighborhood

You know how some people say that “you never know how good it was until it’s gone?” Well, I’m about to move out of my beautiful neighborhood of Marina Del Rey where I’ve lived for the past 3 years. As my time in my neighborhood draws closer to an end, I’m starting to feel rather appreciative of living in the West Side, and being able to walk down to the beach without having to drive. I’ve been flipping through some photographs that I’ve taken of my neighborhood and I’d like to share them with you. This is a dedication post

A 25-year Friendship… Reconnected!

Maiko and I met in kindergarten in Yokohama, Japan when we were 4 years old. We did everything and went everywhere together – we were inseparable. Until one day, Maiko-chan suddenly disappeared. I suppose my mom had told me that “Maiko-chan had to move away to Australia” but in my mind, she just… disappeared! Poof! I don’t think I quite understood what happened to my dear friend. But time went on, and as a child with the attention span of a happy puppy, I quickly adjusted to life without Maiko-chan. We wrote letters to each other for a short while, but

Engagement: Griffith Park Observatory

Long-time couple Claudia and Andy are getting hitched! Andy is a hopeless romantic and wanted to do something incredibly special for his proposal. He led her up a hike at Griffith Park where he created a big heart out of rose petals, and got down on one knee in the middle and popped her the question! Awww, right?! So, we chose LA’s iconic Griffith Park Observatory to shoot their engagement. The Observatory offered a perfect blend of Andy’s love for architecture and nature. We even got some silly shots towards the end of our shoot where Andy started hugging trees! What a fun-filled day!

Anniversary Maui Paradise

It’s already been a year since Mikey and I started dating! What better way to celebrate our anniversary than spend 4 days in Paradise, yes, in Maui! Even though our flight was at the crack of dawn (well, 7am, but it felt early to me!) I was super giddy at the airport. I mean, c’mon, we’re all going to Hawaii people! Get up and cheer! As we approached touchdown, our first reaction was

WELCOME

I call myself a ‘people’ photographer, specializing in capturing the personalities of people through family, newborn and event photography. I’m originally German-Japanese and was raised embracing both cultures. I was raised in Japan and in many parts of Europe, until I finally settled in Los Angeles to call it my permanent home. My love for photography started at an early age. A fun hobby eventually turned in to a passion when I found joy in taking candid photos of my friends. Naturally, my love for photography turned in to a lifestyle and I was asked to photograph people’s milestones and celebrations. And so, my photography business was born in 2010.
