Family: South Pasadena Library
Sharing another post at one of my favorite (gem) locations in the Pasadena-area, the South Pasadena Library! Why do I like this spot? Well, let me tell you… First, it’s not crowded! When we’re doing a photoshoot, it’s SO much easier to be at a location where there’s less people. Sure, we can always turn to Photoshop to erase the unnecessary background, but it’s better to work with a clean slate. Newborn: At-home Session
There’s no greater joy than welcome a new little bundle to your family. Whether it’s your first or fourth little one, these special moments fly by in a blink of an eye so I always encourage new families to capture this simple, yet exciting, new chapter in stills. I recommend clients to do their newborn sessions when the baby is between 1 to 4 weeks old. This is an age when babies still sleep for most of the time, and they’re very flexible (aka. moldable!). But if your baby is older than 4 weeks, don’t worry! You’d still get
Generational Family: Bailey Canyon
One of my favorite photo sessions are those that include extended families, such as grandparents. It brings me joy to get to know a family where multiple generations are involved. The candid laughs, inside jokes, and being able to photograph a variety of groups makes photographing this type of session so gratifying. Bailey Canyon is a very secluded pocket in Sierra Madre that is perfect for larger groups. It gets beautiful lighting during golden hour (~30mins before sundown) and it has a nice ‘nature’ feel that’s still very accessible for those in the Pasadena area. There’s also very minimal walking
Engagement: Pasadena City Hall
Love filled the air on this late summer day in Pasadena City Hall. [J] and [A] chose this beautiful, historic location to capture their love. We made sure to do this beautiful session on a weekday, as it can get very busy on Fridays and the weekends (so I highly suggest booking a session on a weekday at this location). Pasadena City Hall has a lot to offer, ranging from architecture to a bit of greenery. I love capturing the ‘sillyness’ of a group, whether it’s a family, couple or friends! I call myself a ‘people’ photographer, specializing in capturing the personalities of people through family, newborn and event photography. I’m originally German-Japanese and was raised embracing both cultures. I was raised in Japan and in many parts of Europe, until I finally settled in Los Angeles to call it my permanent home. My love for photography started at an early age. A fun hobby eventually turned in to a passion when I found joy in taking candid photos of my friends. Naturally, my love for photography turned in to a lifestyle and I was asked to photograph people’s milestones and celebrations. And so, my photography business was born in 2010.
