I never knew I could run so fast!
At the finish line of the 10k race
My new record!
I finished my last 10k race in 61min, and today I clocked in a new record- 57:40mins! I started running the Hollywood 10k Race at 8am and I was really nervous about getting that awful knee pain that I’ve been feeling during the last few runs. But fortunately for me, I didn’t feel it
I felt GREAT during and after the run. I realized that I do better in races than running solo. Maybe it’s because of the high energy and cheering from the crowds that gets me more pumped, but for whatever reason I don’t feel as tired and it motivates me to keep going. I enjoy passing people because it makes me feel like “super Janice” and obviously enjoy feeling like I’m faster than everyone else
Unlike running solo, running with a large group of people makes me feel like we’re in this together, as if we’re all working towards the same thing. We’re running the same distance, the same route, and we’re all trying to beat our own record and stay healthy. I enjoy being on the same mindset as everybody else.
What I was mostly surprised about was how fast I could actually run! Not to brag, but I wasn’t even training all that much and I was somehow able to beat my personal record. I know some runners who say that doing races can be addictive, and I’m starting to see why. Runners generally tell themselves that “I can do better” and it’s a constant battle between you and your body. I love that – a challenge for your own satisfaction.
Looks like I’m sticking to my new years resolution of training for a half marathon! Does anybody know of any good ones for sometime this year that I should look into?
