Destination Wedding: Larissa + Matt

Want to turn your wedding into a giant, unforgettable party? Have it at the Mardi Gras capital, New Orleans! Larissa and Matt had their whole wedding at the historic Maison Deputy hotel, located in the heart of the French Quarter and a short walking distance to party-central, Bourbon Street. In spirit of an authentic New Orleans experience, their wedding took place on the same weekend when the city declared a state of emergency due to tropical hurricane, Nate, that was heading our way! But rain or shine, nothing was going to stop this wedding from happening – the show must go on!

And what a show they had! Larissa, Matt and both their families definitely knew how to have a good time! Larissa started preparation in her spacious bridal suite, while Matt and his family got ready at a nearby, quaint AirBnB. We lucked out with the rain, and were able to host the ceremony and reception in the hotel’s tented, outdoor courtyard. They partied with a live brass band and a traditional second line parade – it was a true New Orleans party! And just in case you missed my blog post on Larissa and Matt’s engagement shoot, the two love birds met while sitting in traffic! Matt asked Larissa to roll down her window, and they started immediately hit it off! How adorbs is that?!

WELCOME

I call myself a ‘people’ photographer, specializing in capturing the personalities of people through family, newborn and event photography. I’m originally German-Japanese and was raised embracing both cultures. I was raised in Japan and in many parts of Europe, until I finally settled in Los Angeles to call it my permanent home. My love for photography started at an early age. A fun hobby eventually turned in to a passion when I found joy in taking candid photos of my friends. Naturally, my love for photography turned in to a lifestyle and I was asked to photograph people’s milestones and celebrations. And so, my photography business was born in 2010.
