My friend, Shah, throws the most epic house parties. So when he reached out to me to capture his 4th of July party, I had to simply reply with “umm, yes please!”
My favorite part about capturing Shah’s party is the lively energy. How do I capture energy? Good question! A big part of it is definitely the people. People make up most of the party; the laughter, enthusiastic conversations, hugs, silliness and even the occasional alcoholic shots (or three!). Capturing this liveliness, either posed or in candids, are what brings event photography to life, and lets you imagine the sights, sounds, and even the scents as if you’re actually there!
Something I really like to capture at any event are people taking SHOTS! The story is usually three-fold: the pre-shot which is the excitement and the lively group cheers, the actual shot of everyone taking their drinks, and then the reaction shot which usually ends in either a continuation of the energy or a downfall, grimaced expression. You can decide what happened here:
Another capture I enjoy at events: pictures of people taking selfies. Posing for your selfie is something we’re all familiar with, but seeing yourself from a different angle while taking your selfie is quite unique to all.
And now I bring you, cute PUPPY PHOTOS!!!
You just CAN’T have a bad time at one of Shah’s parties 🙂 What a super fun way to celebrate America’s birthday. Thanks Shah for having me!
xoxo,
Hiromi
