Family: At-home Newborn Session

Newborn shoots are very special. For one, I get to meet the baby before many others do, as the parents typically like to use the pictures for birth announcement cards. Second, and more importantly, because I get to hang out with an adorable newborn! This summer, I was honored to meet Mara and Carl’s baby girl, Ava. She was only a few weeks old when we captured her ten little toes, but she was wide awake for almost the entire shoot. Baby girl didn’t want to miss out on any of the fun! We had so much fun photographing baby Ava!

On the day Ava was born, there was a minor earthquake here in Los Angeles. One of her family members had made this beautiful quilt, and included an adorable pink heart that reads “… You Shook the World!” How fitting!

I love it when we are able to involve extended family members into newborn photoshoots. We were so lucky to have grandmothers on both sides join in on our shoot. And even more special was having Ava’s great-grandmother hold her in her arms.

Wishing Mara and Carl a HUGE congratulations again on starting their next chapter as parents! I look forward to watching Ava grow into a beautiful, little lady.

Hiromi

WELCOME

I call myself a ‘people’ photographer, specializing in capturing the personalities of people through family, newborn and event photography. I’m originally German-Japanese and was raised embracing both cultures. I was raised in Japan and in many parts of Europe, until I finally settled in Los Angeles to call it my permanent home. My love for photography started at an early age. A fun hobby eventually turned in to a passion when I found joy in taking candid photos of my friends. Naturally, my love for photography turned in to a lifestyle and I was asked to photograph people’s milestones and celebrations. And so, my photography business was born in 2010.
