Photographing 10-day-old baby [A] at the comfort of his home was a heartwarming experience. This was a very typical experience when photographing an in-home newborn session. We started the session with photographing the full family, and ended with baby [A]’s solo portraits on the newborn photography table. The baby boy, still in his earliest days, was a bundle of pure innocence and curiosity. His tiny fingers and toes, along with his delicate features, were a delight to photograph. His parents were beaming with pride and love, and we created a beautiful collection of images that will forever serve as a cherished memory of this very typical newborn session in their family’s journey.
When I arrive at a client’s home, one of the very first things I do is seek out good light. Family [W]’s home featured very large windows, providing the perfect setting to create a soft, flattering light for our session.
We concluded the session with Baby [A]’s solo portraits. Depending on the newborn’s mood, I sometimes flip the order and begin with the solo portraits. In the case of Baby [A], he wanted to be held by his parents in the beginning which helped calm him. He was a much happier little boy after some love and was sound asleep by the time we did his portraits.
Capturing newborn photos in those early stages of life is truly a precious opportunity, as this brief window of time lasts for just a few weeks. These images serve as timeless keepsakes that define the beginning of a family’s journey together.
