The ‘in-home newborn’ photography experience with me

I’m so grateful that you’re considering booking your newborn photography session with me. An ‘in-home newborn photography’ session is a truly special experience. Unlike traditional studio shoots, it allows you and your baby to remain in the comfort of your own home, creating a relaxed and familiar environment. This setting not only ensures your little one feels safe and content but also captures the genuine essence of your family life. I focus on natural, candid moments, highlighting the unique bond between you and your newborn. Please read on to what your full experience would be like when booking with me.

Introductions & date availability

Once you reach out to me with your initial interest, I will respond to you within 24-48 business hours with further information with my newborn photography guide. I will share with you my availability, and we will work together in finding a good day considering your due date. We will discuss details such as what color schemes we will use your in session, use of any props, and further details like your home address (where the session will take place), and names of family members to be photographed. Finally, I will use this info to put together a photography agreement for your review, and we confirm the session once both of us signs the agreement. I will re-confirm our appointment 48 hours before our session, and share with you a rough timeline of how the day will go as well as how you can best prepare for the session.

Day of the session

I will arrive at your home address at the time that we’ve agreed, and bring in my props. I will ask whether I can tour your home so that I can find the best lighting, and decide where I will set up my newborn photography table and do your family photos. The set up will very vary depending on the space but it will look similar to the below examples.

Once I complete my set up, we are ready to begin! If our little model is sound asleep, I will begin the session with the solo photos on the newborn table. I will walk you through the colors that we will be using, and get your approval on the clothes/props that I plan to use. You are more than welcome to watch and be close to your baby during the solo photos, but this is also a time when you can take a take break and leave the room. This newborn session will take approximately 60-75mins, including breaks when your baby is feeling a bit fussy.

Next, we will do our family photos, in most cases on your family bed. To start, we will do some light posing so that everyone is looking at the camera, and then we will move to the fun, candid moments. For families with older siblings, this is when we get a little silly and families typically share laughs, and I act as a fly-on-the-wall to capture those moments that makes your family special. For those without siblings, I will photograph the love between two parents bonding with their new baby, and also snap photos of the baby in his/her nursery. This is when we can also do nursing photos, if the mother chooses to do so. We will conclude our session with each parent with the baby, typically by a window. If the baby is feeling fussy from the very beginning and wants to be held, we will flip this order and do the family photos first, followed by the solo photos on the newborn table. It is very likely that a fussy baby will tire himself/herself out and be sound asleep by the second half.

After the session

Delivery of the photos will be shared approximately 7-10 business days (unless otherwise communicated). Please note that payment must be made in full at the end of our session before any photos can be delivered. You will receive a link to the online gallery and the password to access your gallery. Here, you’ll be able to view all of the images and select up to 20 of your favorite images for full resolution download. You may also decide to purchase the full gallery for an additional fee, in which case a “download all” button will appear. I will also share with you a sample album that I’ve put together using your images, if you decide to purchase a beautiful album of your family.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far into the blog, and for considering me as your in-home newborn photographer. I’m excited about the opportunity to be a part of your family’s new beginning and to capture those precious moments that will become cherished memories for years to come. Your trust in my work means the world to me, and I can’t wait to create beautiful memories with you.

xoxo,
Hiromi

WELCOME

I call myself a ‘people’ photographer, specializing in capturing the personalities of people through family, newborn and event photography. I’m originally German-Japanese and was raised embracing both cultures. I was raised in Japan and in many parts of Europe, until I finally settled in Los Angeles to call it my permanent home. My love for photography started at an early age. A fun hobby eventually turned in to a passion when I found joy in taking candid photos of my friends. Naturally, my love for photography turned in to a lifestyle and I was asked to photograph people’s milestones and celebrations. And so, my photography business was born in 2010.
